HERCULES THE LION - VILLA MASCOT

Hercules the Lion

Aston Villa Mascot

This figure of Hercules the Lion was a request from a young Villa fan, at first I was not sure if it would be possible but as you know I do like a challenge and I am very happy on how this figure turned out.

The figure was made by using a Subbuteo figure as a 'Skeleton' for Hercules then carefully adding modellers clay to get the size and shape correct. Using many intricate tools I was able to get the desired look of Hercules then I was able to simply paint him.

You will notice there is no sponsor on the shirt but simply 'AVFC' this is preferred as sponsors come and go (hopefully Hercules will not).

I maybe looking now to add real footballing Mascots to the Subbuteo Art collection. There are already requests for Arsenal's 'Gunnersaurus Rex' and Man Utd's 'Fred The Red'.

TOP 5 RETIRED PLAYERS 2012/13

This 2012-13 season has seen many great footballers retire as well as a manager known as 'Fergie'.

Here are my Top 5 retired footballers this season.

1. David Beckham - Wearing the '99 Treble Season Kit

Even if you do not follow football everyone has heard of Becks, a great loss to the game but I am sure will always be involved in the beautiful game.

2. Stiliyan Petrov - Support Stan #19

Villa captain, loved by all wherever he played, described by many as a true gent. Petrov announced his retirement earlier this month having spent over a year out of the first team, battling acute leukaemia. Petrov is in remission and has been charged with helping Cowans nurture Villa's future talent.

3. Paul Scholes - Wearing the '99 Treble Season Kit

Scholes spent his entire career at Man Utd and made his debut in 1994, Many past greats have said Paul Scholes was a player in his own league and is one of Alex Fergusons most important players.

4. Michael Owen - Wearing the '98 England V Argentina Kit

What a striker and what a goal versus Argentina in 98. Owen scored 158 goals in 297 matches for Liverpool and 40 in 89 games for England. A prolific striker with blistering pace.

5. Jamie Carragher - Wearing the 2005 Champions League Final Kit

Carragher is another rare player who spent his whole career at on club. 737 games for Liverpool and only the second player - after Ryan Giggs - to have over 500 league appearances for one club. A Kop legend.

The Top 5 line-up

SUPPORT STAN #19

SUPPORT STAN

#19

It was a very sad day for me and footballing fans alike after Stiliyan Petrov announced yesterday his retirement from football.

As a Villa fan I admired our Captain and I would like to wish him and his family all the best for the future.

You can read the full statement from Stan on the Official Villa website, just click the link below.

I wish I was able to be at Villa Park tomorrow to stand with every fan in the stadium and applaud my Captain not only to see Stan lead out the teams or the 19th minute but the whole game and the lap of honour afterwards.

Here is my tribute to the Villa Captain, Hero, Legend, Immortalised in Subbuteo form with 'Support Stan' on the front and 'Petrov 19' on the back of his shirt.

INGLÊS FAZ ARTE COM BONECOS DE SUBBUTEO

Subbuteo In Brazil

A great article about my Subbuteo creations from the great Verminosos Por Futebol website in Brazil. Please click on the link below for the full article.
